Details: As Shirshin himself said, the reprimand was allegedly imposed for “failure to fulfill official duties”, but he was never provided with actual evidence or specific violations.

According to Shirshin, the real reason for the penalty was wearing a T-shirt with the image of a person whom the command considered inappropriate for public mention.
The former battalion commander of the 47th separate mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Captain Oleksandr Shirshin, noted that he repeatedly tried to find out what the “dereliction of duty” consisted of, as well as get acquainted with the case materials.
In response, according to him, he received an explanation such as: “I am the commander, I made this decision”: “All my attempts to explain that the decision is the result of an analysis and assessment of some actions were unsuccessful, and again the phrase sounded: conclusion based on my decision.”
Shirshin did not agree with this approach and challenged the reprimand in court. The judge, as reported, analyzed the case materials in detail, referring to the norms of statutes, legislation and other normative legal acts, and came to the conclusion that the disciplinary sanction was unfounded.
“The disputed order does not contain a specific description of the plaintiff’s actions or inaction, it is not determined which official duties he did not perform or performed improperly, the time, place, and manner of committing the violation is not established, and there is no cause-and-effect relationship between the plaintiff’s actions and any negative consequences,” military lawyer Nataliya Feshchyk said in the court’s decision.
“Don’t be afraid to defend your borders. You have to choose your place under the sun,” commented a military man after the announcement of the decision.
He also noted that there are still several trials to come, and expressed hope for fair decisions.
Prehistory:
- On May 16, 2025, the commander of the 47th brigade accused the command of “moronic tasks” in Kurshchyna. In his post, Shirshin also marked the official page of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with the comment “I hope your children will also be in the infantry and will carry out your tasks.”
