In the Russian Federation, the Kursk Garrison Military Court announced the verdict of Russian military man Stanislav Lopatin, accused of looting. According to Mediazon, this is the first known decision announced since the beginning of the full-scale war against a Russian serviceman under this criminal article.

It is not known what term Lopatin was sentenced to. The court refused to answer the questions of the Mediazona journalist, referring to the prohibition of the court chairman. The lawyer of the accused, Ihor Dushin, told the correspondent that he had made a mistake with the phone number. The lawyer’s number was indicated on the website of the Kursk Oblast Bar Chamber.

Lopatin’s case came to court in November 2024. He was sentenced on January 15.

Residents of the border areas, who had to leave their homes because of the fighting, told about the looting of the Russian military during the operation of the Armed Forces in the Kursk region. At first, the authorities called reports of looting “an information dump by the enemy’s special services”, and then admitted that “there are facts of looting both among civilians and among the military” in the region.
