Details: Kornienko announced the creation of 7 subgroups that will work within the framework of the working group. They will deal with issues of election administration, security criteria, implementation of electoral rights of military personnel, participation of internally displaced persons and residents of temporarily occupied territories, voting of citizens abroad, information support and campaigning, as well as fulfillment of Ukraine’s international obligations in the field of elections.
In turn, the co-chair of the “European Solidarity” faction, Iryna Gerashchenko, commented that her faction claims that its representatives should head one of the subgroups (on issues of media, security, or international obligations). Kornienko promised to “necessarily take into account the principle of political proportionality.”
According to the first vice-speaker, the working group will meet next time in early February.
What preceded: On December 9, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that he is ready for presidential elections if international partners can guarantee security during their holding. He also assured that he is ready for changes in the legislation on elections during martial law, and asked the parliament to prepare relevant proposals.
