The Council received resignations from Fedorov and Shmyhal – the speaker

The Verkhovna Rada received applications for the resignation of the First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine, the Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov and the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal. This was announced by the Speaker of the Parliament, Ruslan Stefanchuk.

According to him, the Council will consider them in the near future in accordance with the established procedure.

On January 3, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi met with Denys Shmyhal and offered him to move from the position of Minister of Defense to the position of First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy. The head of state himself announced this on social networks.

The day before, on January 2, Zelenskyi proposed to the First Deputy Prime Minister – the Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, Fedorov, to become the Minister of Defense. Subsequently, Zelensky discussed with Fedorov the format of the work of the Ministry of Defense. The President called the main principle of saving the lives of the military thanks to the technology of defense.
