Details: Finance ministers of the EU countries agreed on the decision to apply a fixed duty of 3 euros for parcels from outside the European Union, the value of which is less than 150 euros. The duty will be applied from July 1, 2026.

It is said to be a response to the problem of an influx of cheap goods of questionable quality from online trading platforms in Asia, creating unfair competition for producers within the EU.
“Today’s decision continues decision of the Council from November 2025 to work on a simple temporary solution to apply tariffs to such goods as early as 2026. This measure will be in effect until the permanent decision to cancel the duty exemption threshold comes into effect,” the press service said.
According to rough estimates, about 65% of parcels for buyers in the EU from online trading platforms enter with an underpriced price to avoid customs duties. According to EC estimates, 91% of all online purchases by European consumers in 2024 worth less than €150 came from China.
Recently, there has been an influx of cheap goods of dubious quality from Chinese online platforms spoke in many European countries. Some platforms have already fallen under investigation and fines of national authorities.
