The Verkhovna Rada supported the dismissal of Defense Minister Denys Shmygal, who is to be transferred to the position of Minister of Energy.

- Shmyhal was appointed Minister of Defense in July 2025.
- On January 9, the parliament received statements about the resignation of the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal and the First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – the Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov.
- President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Shmyhal on January 3 and expects that the parliament will approve his candidacy for the post of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy.
