Rusnews journalist Maria Ponomarenko was placed in a regional tuberculosis hospital # 12 in Barnaul. This was reported by her lawyer Dmitry Shitov.

He said that Ponomarenko was from a colony in Rubtsovsk in the Altai Territory. The lawyer suggested that she was probably sent to the colony in the village of Shipunovo, but refused to inform where she was.

On the morning of August 14, he became aware that Ponomarenko was in the hospital, but he could not get there – they referred to a “sanitary day” at a medical institution. Later, Dmitry Shitov reported that representatives of the Regional Directorate of the Federal Sentence Service and the Public Supervisory Commission were communicated and he will be able to visit Maria Ponomarenko on August 15.

In 2023, Maria Ponomarenko was sentenced to six years in a colony of the general regime in the case of the spread of military “fakes” – because of the report on the destruction of the drama theater in Mariupol. In March 2025, she was appointed another one year and ten months of imprisonment in the case of attack on the staff of the colony.
