According to the command, in the North-Slobozhansk and Kursk directions, the forces of the Russian Federation carried out 63 attacks on the positions of our troops and populated areas, in particular, two – from rocket salvo fire systems.
In addition, in the Yuzhno-Slobozhansk direction, the Ukrainian military repulsed 16 attacks in the areas of the settlements of Vovchansk, Staritsa, Prylipka and in the direction of Izbytskyi. Two clashes are still ongoing.
The General Staff says that in the direction of Kupyansk, Russian forces attacked the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine 14 times in the areas of Synkivka, Nova Kruglyakivka, and in the direction of Kupyansk, Petropavlivka, Glushkivka, Bohuslavka, Kucherivka, and Kurylivka. Four clashes are currently ongoing.
At the same time, in the Lyman region, the Russian army launched 22 attacks, trying to advance in the areas of Novoselyvka, Myrny, Zarichny, Yampol, and towards the settlements of Olhivka, Ozerne, Drobysheve, and Stavka. Currently, two military clashes are ongoing.
“During the day in the Pokrovsky direction, the aggressor carried out 31 assault and offensive actions in the areas of Rodynske, Myrnograd, Kotlyna, Udachne, Zatyshok, Filia and in the direction of Bilytskyi. Currently, the battle is going on in four locations. According to preliminary estimates, Ukrainian soldiers neutralized 33 occupiers in this direction, 19 of them irreversibly. 31 unmanned aerial vehicles were destroyed. In addition, our fighters hit one unit of the enemy’s special equipment and 4 personnel shelters,” the Armed Forces emphasized.
According to the American Institute for the Study of War, Russian forces increased their average rate of advance in 2025 thanks to the new operational pattern, but did not achieve their priority objectives in the specified time frames.
On December 17, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, said that the enemy had increased the group to the number of about 710,000 soldiers in order to conduct a strategic offensive operation.
According to him, the Russian troops have been trying to capture Pokrovsk in Donetsk region for more than 17 months, but Ukrainian units are holding the defense and intercepting the initiative.
