Details: Horbenko’s lawyer, Stanislav Pelyuk, stated that such a bail amount is disproportionate to the income of a “retired military serviceman”. And the prosecutor, they say, said even the day before that he would ask for a bail of 10 million hryvnias.
Defense representatives admitted that they expected that the court would not refuse to take Horbenk into custody. An appeal against the decision is currently being prepared.
What preceded: The Pechersk District Court of Kyiv chose a preventive measure in the form of arrest with the alternative of a bail of 5 million hryvnias for the former commander of the operational-tactical department “Kharkiv”, Brigadier General Yury Galushkin.
The fifth president, Petro Poroshenko, announced his intention to post bail for Galushkin. Later, he reported that another legal entity had already paid the required amount. The name of the mortgagor has not been disclosed at this time.
