Vladislav Esipenko is a Ukrainian journalist, freelancer Crimea. Before his arrest he covered social and environmental issues, conducted a survey of Crimeans.
On March 10, 2021, Esipenko stopped communicating with his relatives. Soon it became known that the FSB of Russia detained it, accusing him of “ties with Ukrainian special services” and “storage and transportation of ammunition”. In the end, he was sentenced to five years in a colony of the general regime and a fine of 110 thousand rubles.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine called the “politically motivated” sentence Esipenko. The US State Department condemned Esipenko’s sentence, calling him “another example of abuse of Russian occupation power in Crimea.” Esipenko himself claims that Russian security forces were tortured, in particular electricity, seeking testimony.
