Details: The freighter “Sinegorsk” entered Bristol Bay on Tuesday night and anchored about two miles off Minehead, on the north coast of Somerset.

Less than a mile from his position are submarine telecommunications cables connecting Britain with the United States, Canada, Spain and Portugal.

According to MarineTraffic, the vessel was stationary between 11:00 p.m. Tuesday and 2:00 p.m. Wednesday. The last port of call of “Sinegorsk” three weeks ago was the Russian city of Arkhangelsk – a large trade hub, where the headquarters of the Northern Fleet of the Russian Navy is also located.

On Wednesday morning, a coast guard plane circled over the Russian ship for half an hour. Later, a Navy Wildcat helicopter called Talon 1 took off from Yeovilton Air Force Base.

After being observed by the helicopter, “Sinegorsk” began to move in a westerly direction, leaving the territory.

Although Wildcat helicopters can be armed with Sea Venom anti-ship missiles or Sting Ray torpedoes, it is not known if the weapons were on board this time.

Sources in the British Ministry of Defense suggested that the ship may have gone into the bay to shelter from the weather, but the prolonged stopover directly above the lines of communication caused serious concern.

The other day, the British Ministry of Defense announced that warships of the Royal Navy were deployed to intercept and track Russian warships in the English Channel.

Defense Secretary John Gealy previously confirmed that Britain had provided intelligence support to France during the seizure of a tanker in the Mediterranean Sea linked to Russia.
