On October 10, 2024, a representative of the coordination headquarters on the management of prisoners of war in Ukraine reported that Ukrainian journalist Victoria Roshchyna, who disappeared during a trip to the occupied territories and was held in Russia, died in Russian captivity.

For the first time, the Russians detained Roshchina in Berdyansk in March 2022, when she wrote reports for the media (including for Radio Liberty) about life in temporarily captured territories. Then the journalist was released, forcing him to record the video that she had no claims against the Russian military. Roshchina returned to Ukraine -controlled territory, but in July 2023 again went to the territory occupied by Moscow.
Victoria Roshchyna ceased to communicate with his relatives on August 3, 2023. According to her father, on July 27, Roshchyna left Ukraine to Poland and had to reach the occupied territories in eastern Ukraine (through Russia) in three days. Then Volodymyr Roshchin said that the Ukrainian Security Service confirmed the family that Victoria had been captured by Russian forces.
