Prylutsky lives in the city of Bucha in the Kyiv region, which in 2022 became a symbol of military crimes of Russian invaders. Belarus was evacuated with his wife and young son, but returned to Bucha in May 2022.
According to Sergiy Prylutsky, the decision to go to the Ukrainian army was not sudden – he was ready to go to the war in 2022, but then “there were huge queues before the military enlistment offices, there was a serious selection.” People who had health problems were screened, and he was not so needed in view of his somewhat perfect health. ”
Sergiy Prylutsky says that after evacuating from Bucha in 2022, he registered as a conscript at a new place of residence (he also has citizenship of Ukraine) and from that moment on expected that he would be called away.
“When I returned to Bucha, there were many bureaucratic issues. In 2024, a new law on mobilization was passed, the bureaucracy became smaller, and I was able to register for military service in Bucha again. Somehow everything was delayed for a year, and it turned out that I just got to the army. It did not shook me, it was not a surprise, because I was looking for a where to go to serve, ”the poet says.
When asked why he decided to go to the international legion, Sergey Prylutsky replied that he was still a “representative of the national minority” in Ukraine, plus he was advised to go there – “they said that good units were said” and people needed there. Several of his friends also serve in the Legion – all this influenced his choice.
When Sergei was asked how his seven -year -old son reacted to the news that his father was going to war, he replied: “Like all children: he is sad without me.” But he understands what is happening. ”
