The situation is stabilized there. During this time, we reflected and returned to Andriyivka, and in Yunakivka we advanced in a week from 200 to 700 meters. We control about 90 square kilometers of the territory of Glushkovsky district of Kursk region, and these are our predatory actions in response to the possible offensive of the enemy, ”said the Armed Forces Commander.

“Our active actions in the Glushkov district of Kursk region disrupted these plans. As a result, these parts were not relocated to other directions. One of the brigades, which was already moving to the Pokrovsky direction, was returned again to the Kursk direction. And now about 10,000 Russian soldiers are fighting in Glushkovsky district, in the Russian territory. In view of this situation, the Russian command changed the task for grouping with a total number of about 50 thousand people, ”the military commander said.
He added that the Ukrainian military control about 90 square kilometers of the territory of Glushkovsky district of Kursk region, and “this is a predatory action in response to an enemy offensive.”
The Ukrainian military launched the Kursk operation on August 6, 2024. For about half a year, they controlled the district center, the city of Sudzha, and a large part of the territory of Sudzhansky district. In the spring of 2025, the forces of the Russian Federation were able to return the judges and the surrounding territories and partially enter the territory of Sumy region.
At the end of May, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Russia had harvested 50,000 soldiers near Sumy region.
On May 26, the head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration informed that the Russian army controls four settlements in the border regions: new, Basivka of the Yunakiv Community and Veselivka, Zhuravko of the Khotin Community. Since then, Russia has expanded its control area in the Sumy region.
On May 22, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the creation of a “buffer zone” along the border with Ukraine.
