President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Ukrainian troops contain the group of 64 thousand people in the Kur Region of the Russian army. He reported this during a conversation with journalists on April 4.

“We keep a large number of military – 64 thousand Russians in the Kursk direction. It is a very serious group that could fly and attack us from other directions throughout the front line, ”he stressed.

According to him, Russian troops are trying to displace Ukrainian units from the border areas to the “symbolic” dates that are relevant to the Kremlin.

“But so far we are controlling the situation, we are there, and it is very important to us,” the President added.

On March 26, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that Russian leader Vladimir Putin was “trying to win time and prepares for a spring offensive.” According to him, “Putin prepares a new offensive, in particular in Sumy and Kharkiv region.”

In March, the Russian military increased the pressure on defense forces in the Kursk region, over which the Armed Forces established control in August 2024. Subsequently, reports of the Armed Forces and their surroundings in this Russian region began to appear. The Ukrainian authorities denied it, and the Commander -in -Chief of the Armed Forces Alexander Syrsky stated that the Armed Forces would “keep defense in Kurshchyna as much as it would be appropriate and necessary.”
