The Air Force claims to have shot down two Russian ballistic missiles and 24 drones

The Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported that on the night of January 18, 2025, the Russian military attacked Ukraine with 39 Shahed attack drones and simulator drones of various types, and also used four Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles, which were launched from the Voronezh and Bryansk regions of the Russian Federation.

“As of 08:00, the shooting down of two Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles in the Kyiv region and 24 Shahed-type attack UAVs and other types of drones in Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, Kyiv, Khmelnytsky, Zhytomyr, Kirovohrad , Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, and Donetsk regions,” reads notified

According to the Air Force, 14 simulator drones were lost in location without negative consequences.

Separately, the Ukrainian military informed about how even missiles shot down in dense urban areas pose a threat to residents.

“Unfortunately, as a result of an enemy attack on Kyiv, people were killed – downed ballistic missiles fell in the Shevchenkiv district of the city. The production building of the enterprise was partially destroyed, houses, the entrance to the subway, cars and the main water supply were damaged. According to preliminary data, there is currently no information about the dead in Zaporizhzhia, search operations are ongoing, but there are victims, and they are being helped. The enemy hit one of the city’s enterprises with ballistic missiles, houses and vehicles were also damaged,” the Air Force said in a statement.

As a result of rocket attacks carried out by the forces of the Russian Federation around 6:00 a.m., four people were killed in Kyiv, three more were injured, and the number of injured in Zaporizhzhia reached 10.

The Russian military regularly attacks Ukrainian regions with various types of weapons – attack UAVs, rockets, anti-aircraft missiles, and anti-aircraft missiles.

The leadership of Russia denies that the Russian army during a full-scale war inflicts targeted strikes on the civilian infrastructure of the cities and villages of Ukraine, killing the civilian population and destroying hospitals, schools, kindergartens, energy and water supply facilities.

Ukrainian authorities and international organizations qualify these strikes as war crimes committed by the Russian Federation and emphasize that they are targeted.
