Syrskyi: the number of armed forces provided for in the peace plan is sufficient to repel aggression

“At first we were offered to reduce the number of our military personnel to 600,000. But just the figure of 800,000 satisfies us””, — write: www.radiosvoboda.org

The strength of the Ukrainian army of 800,000 people provided for by the draft peace plan is sufficient to repel aggression, said the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi. He said this in an interview with “24 Kanal”.

“This number really guarantees us to repel armed aggression in the event of its renewal. This number also guarantees us a planned mobilization process. That is, we are not limited in mobilization. All our mobilization indicators and capabilities are preserved. Initially, we were offered to reduce the number of our military personnel to 600,000. But just the figure of 800,000 satisfies us,” said Syrskyi.

Earlier last week, the president of Ukraine called the 20-point plan, which was created during the talks between Kyiv and Washington, “a basic document on ending the war.” According to him, the plan envisages that Ukraine will receive strong security guarantees, and the number of the Armed Forces will be 800,000 in peacetime.

Representatives of the Russian government did not officially comment on this plan. The Russian authorities will demand that “key changes” be made to the 20-point peace plan developed as a result of discussions between Ukraine and the United States, Bloomberg reported, citing a source close to the Kremlin.
