The new Syrian authorities have said that they are ready to consider the possibility of deploying UN peacekeepers along the border with Israel. This is reported by Reuters, writes UNN.

Details

The de facto leader of Syria, Ahmad al-Sharaa, said he would agree to the deployment of UN peacekeeping forces in a buffer zone with Israel.

He also added that the advance of Israel in the region was connected with the presence of Iranian forces and Hezbollah, but after the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad’s regime, in his opinion, these forces no longer have any influence.

Israel is now using certain pretexts to advance into the Syrian regions, in particular the buffer zone

The Israeli military occupied the buffer zone in the Golan Heights in early December and argued that the 1974 disengagement agreement with Syria ceased to operate due to the withdrawal of Syrian troops. The IDF also occupied the slopes of Mount Hermon on the Syrian side.

We will remind

In December, Ahmad al-Sharaa, after the removal of the Assad regime, accused Israel of using false pretexts for the attacks. Syria’s new leadership has declared its intention to avoid conflict and focus on rebuilding the country.
