Details: Sybiga appealed to the Ukrainian diaspora, “partners, friends and benefactors all over the world” with a call to collect aid for Ukraine, which would help to get through the winter against the background of extreme frosts and the increasingly difficult situation in the energy system, broken by Russian strikes.
“Today I instructed all our embassies abroad to initiate urgent fund-raising, like the one recently organized by our Polish friends,” Sybiga said, recalling that almost 1 billion US dollars were donated to Kyiv as part of the Polish fundraiser.
“I call on all those who care around the world – all our friends, communities, civil society, parliaments, politicians at the regional and local level, opinion leaders, the media and others – to respond to this call. This is much-needed help. It will go towards the purchase of equipment, electricity supply and all forms of energy directly for Ukrainians and communities that need it,” Sybiga said.
He noted that for Ukrainians, such support gives them the feeling that they are not alone with the problem and that Russia will not be able to break the readiness to resist with such methods, and the result will only be more rallying in support of Ukraine.
Also Sybig thanked the Poleswho have already collected more than 3 million zlotys for generators for Kyiv and again increased the target amount due to the flow of new donations.
On Saturday, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, following the results of a meeting with the head of the State Government, Oleg Ivashchenko, said that Russia is preparing for further strikes on Ukrainian energy and infrastructure, including facilities serving NPPs.
