Direct speech: “First, Russia has already struck a Ukrainian government building this year. Second, Ukraine strikes only legitimate military targets on Russian territory – in response to Russian strikes on Ukraine.
Thirdly, Russia is the aggressor, and Ukraine is the country attacked and defended in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter. There cannot be any false equality between the aggressor and the defending country.”
Details: Kyiv calls on the world to condemn Russia’s “provocative statements aimed at derailing the constructive peace process”, noting that Ukraine remains committed to US-led peace efforts.
What preceded:
- Earlier, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Sergey Lavrov, said that Ukraine allegedly struck the residence of the Russian leader Vladimir Putin on Monday night, as a result of which the negotiating position will be “revised.”
- According to Lavrov, on Monday night, Ukraine allegedly attacked Putin’s residence in the Novgorod region (probably the residence in Valdai) using 91 attack UAVs. As a result, Lavrov claims, “Russia’s negotiating position will be revised,” but Russia allegedly has no intention of withdrawing from the negotiation process with the United States regarding Ukraine.
- Note that Ukraine has officially denied this information.
- “Another lie of the Russian Federation. It is clear that yesterday we had a meeting with Trump and it is clear that for the Russians, if we do not have a scandal with America, and we have progress, then for them it is a failure. They do not want to end this war. They are able to end it only because of pressure on them,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on this statement.
