Prime Minister Yulia Svyridenko expects that the appointment of the Minister of Energy and Minister of Justice will take place in the coming weeks.

She noted that there was a conversation and an agreement with the parliamentary corps that this will be a joint decision – there will be a discussion with the factions, which will submit their proposals regarding the candidates, and then the Cabinet of Ministers will discuss them.

“I hope that the ministers will be appointed in the coming weeks. Because it is extremely important to have a Minister of Energy during the heating season,” said the Prime Minister.

On November 19, the Verkhovna Rada dismissed the Ministers of Energy and Justice Svitlana Grynchuk and Herman Galushchenko due to NABU’s investigation into alleged corruption in the energy sector.

NABU detective Oleksandr Abakumov said on the air of the “Ukrainian Pravda” program that during the investigation of this case, detectives “in different situations” recorded four Cabinet ministers. According to him, we are talking about officials from different periods, that is, they are not all four current ministers.

A few days later, the head of the government, Yuliya Svyridenko, announced that she had submitted to the parliament a motion to dismiss Justice Minister Herman Galushchenko and Energy Minister Svitlana Grynchuk.

On November 10, NABU announced the disclosure of the activities of a criminal organization, the main focus of which was “systematic obtaining of illegal benefits from Energoatom’s counterparties in the amount of 10% to 15% of the value of contracts.” NABU claims that funds were legalized through a back office in the center of Kyiv, through which about 100 million dollars passed. According to the investigation, the premises of this office “belonged to the family of former People’s Deputy and now Russian Senator Andrii Derkach, accused by NABU and SAP in other criminal proceedings.”
