Svitolina called the three most famous victories in Grand Slam tournaments

One of them happened 12 years ago and defined the further path of the future star of world tennis

Before the start of the US Open-2025, Elina Svitolina accounts have 108 wins in Grand Slam. According to this indicator, the Ukrainian has already entered the top 40 tennis players in history. Journalist Champion Igor Grachov suggested that our star make a personal rating of the three most memorable dwarfs.

US OPEN-2013, first circle
Elina Svitolina (Ukraine) – Dominica Tsibulkova (17, Slovakia) 6: 4, 6: 3

At that moment, the 18-year-old Ukrainian took the first steps on Grand Slam. The victory over the Tsibulkova, which at the peak was part of the top 10 (then in the top 5) and was famous for its fighting character, became a serious application for the future for Svitolina.

“It was my second victory at the level of the big helmet tournaments, but I defeated the player from the TOP-20. By the way, at the next Major-Australian Open-2014-Tsibulkova got the finale. The first such success became a turning point for me and played an important role in the further quarry.”

Wimbledon-2023, quarterfinals
Elina Svitolina (Ukraine) – Iga Schwontek (1, Poland) 7: 5, 6: 7 (5: 7), 6: 2

This match became the sensation of the tournament: Svitolina, which returned after maternity leave and missed almost a year of competitive practice, knocked out the first racket of the world at that time. Wimbledon’s central court that day is just crazy.

“It was only a few months after pregnancy and the birth of my daughter Sky. The victory over Iga has become an important signal for me: I am able to return to the top 5 level.”

Rolan Harros-2025, Fourth Circle (1/8 Final)
Elina Svitolina (Ukraine) – Jasmine Paolini (4, Italy) 4: 6, 7: 6 (8: 6), 6: 1

Given in the first set, in the second world saved three matches! Victory over one of the most stable tennis players of the season gave her a quarter -finals.

“Emotions are still relatively fresh: this match proved that even without the best game, you can defeat a top rival. The second set was mentally difficult, but I managed to cross over myself and an aggressive game to take the initiative. It is a duel I am proud of.”

Despite a considerable list of bright victories and records, the story of this rating has not yet been completed. There is reason to believe that a new one will appear in it – such a tennis.
