“In general, Ukrainians look optimistically at the year 2026, but sociologists record a tendency to decrease positive sentiments”, — write: www.radiosvoboda.org
In general, Ukrainians are optimistic about the year 2026, but sociologists note a tendency to decrease positive attitudes and increase skepticism about changes.
The percentage of those who believe that nothing will change is 27% (compared to 20% in 2024). As in 2024, now every fourth respondent believes that the next year will be worse.
As a year ago, Ukrainians are preparing for economic difficulties. This fits into the pan-European and global trend of economic pessimism, notes the sociological group “Rating”.
According to the survey, about two-thirds of respondents believe that 2026 will be a year of economic difficulties, one in ten expects that there will be prosperity, and one in five – that nothing will change. In 2023, the share of economic pessimism was slightly lower (52%), but for the second year now it has remained at the level of 63-64%.
Sociologists note that hopes for world peace are growing in society. Scenarios regarding world peace were divided approximately equally: one third of Ukrainians believe that the year will be more peaceful, the second – that the year will be the same, and the third that it will be more turbulent.
According to the results of the survey, now a third of Ukrainians hope for a more peaceful world, in November 2023 it was 26%.
End of Year Survey (EoY) is a global annual survey of the international sociological association Gallup International about the future, happiness and expectations of the population of different countries. In 2025, 59,636 respondents in 60 countries were surveyed. In Ukraine, the EoY survey is conducted by the sociological group “Rating” (Rating Group).
In November 2025, sociologists asked 1,000 Ukrainians about their vision of the general situation, expectations regarding economic development and world peace.
