Blogger, volunteer and public activist Serhii Sternenko stated that he was wanted for not appearing before the TCC on a summons and linked it to his criticism of the army system and calls for reforms for the military. The TCC did not deny that they were looking for an activist, but noted that it was not “revenge”.

Details: The day before, Sternenko announced that he had learned from pro-Russian sources that he was allegedly wanted by the Primorsky RTCC and SP for “violation of the legislation on defense, mobilization training and mobilization, the established rules of military accounting for drawing up protocols on administrative offenses.”

According to the activist, “there are reasons to believe that this could be a ‘hello’ from the army system for criticism and calls for reform, which our military is demanding.”

He indicated that the Reserve+ application contains all his current data regarding residence in Kyiv, he did not receive any search notices. And the “summons” was apparently sent to him at an address in Odessa. “The summons went neither to the address of residence nor to the registration,” Sternenko wrote.

Sternenko also noted that he is not hiding. “Separate sur – on the day of the alleged wanted announcement, I was at a meeting at the Ministry of Defense. A day later at another one. In short, I behaved like someone who is hiding, yes,” he wrote.

The Odesa TCC and SP did not deny that they were looking for Sternenko, but emphasized that “they are acting exclusively within the framework of the legislation, in particular, in accordance with Article 259 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses and other legal acts regulating the rules of military registration and mobilization training.” .

The statement of the TCC says that Sternenko did not report a number of important details, in particular, that he had already visited the Primorsky RTCC and SP, where he paid an administrative fine for violating the rules of military accounting, and that he had been referred to the military medical commission (VLK).

“These facts indicate that Mr. Sternenko was aware of the need to fulfill his duties as a conscript and took appropriate measures to regulate his status,” the statement says.

There they also urged Sternenko, in case of doubts about the legality of actions, to contact directly the structural subdivisions of the Odesa regional TCC and SP in order to clarify all the circumstances and eliminate possible misunderstandings.

What happened before: In an interview with “Ukrainian Pravda” in May, Sternenko explained that he is not currently fighting because he is more effective as a volunteer.

We will remind: Sternenko is a public activist, volunteer and one of the most popular Ukrainian-language bloggers. In his videos, which gain hundreds of thousands of views, he debunks the activities of Russian propagandists and Ukrainian collaborators.

Sternenko is involved in several criminal cases: kidnapping, rioting and beating of a police officer, crushing of drugs and the death of the attacker. He denies guilt in all cases.

In May 2018, a case was opened against him for the intentional murder of Ivan Kuznetsov, who attacked Sternenko in Odesa on May 24 and died from stab wounds. The second attacker Oleksandr Isaikul was also wounded, but escaped. In this case, the investigation was completed in June 2020, declaring Sternenko a suspect and canceling the suspicion against Kuznetsov.

In May 2021, the Odesa Court of Appeal overturned the conviction for robbery in the case against Sternenko and Ruslan Demchuk on charges of kidnapping and torturing local deputy Serhii Shcherbych in the spring of 2015, but Sternenko received a suspended sentence under the weapons charge.
