According to the chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, the task of the group is to develop a document that will allow for “safe democratic elections”, the results of which will be trusted in Ukraine and abroad.
Direct speech: “This is a professional working group that will develop the document that will make it possible to hold not just elections in Ukraine, but safe democratic elections that will be trusted throughout the world.”
Details: He also noted that the working group will work out all the nuances of applying the Election Code, taking into account the war. It is, in particular, about:
- voting of military personnel and their right to run for office;
- participation in elections of Ukrainians who are abroad;
- conducting elections in the temporarily occupied territories;
- the presence of foreign observers.
Stefanchuk emphasized that based on the results of the work, they plan to propose a separate law that will be applied once – for these elections.

- US President Donald Trump believes that “the time has come” for Ukraine to hold presidential elections.
- Zelensky reacted to this reprimand and said that he is “always ready.”
- He also stated that international partners should ensure security during the elections. Zelensky himself is ready for changes in the legislation on elections during martial law.
- On December 18, Zelenskyy announced that the Ukrainian people’s deputies have not yet presented their work on changing the legislation on conducting elections during martial law. Likewise, there is no consensus on the possible holding of elections online.
