British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said the initial draft of the US peace plan contained points that were “unacceptable” but also had some very important elements “that will be necessary for a just and lasting peace.” He said this while speaking in the House of Commons.

According to him, the negotiations in Geneva over the weekend made “important steps forward” between the United States and Ukraine regarding the renewed peace program.

“I can assure the Chamber that work on improving this plan is ongoing,” the prime minister said.

Starmer added that a just and lasting peace can only be achieved if certain conditions are met, in particular, Ukraine’s sovereignty must be preserved, Ukraine must be able to defend itself in the future, and issues regarding Ukraine and its future must be determined by Ukraine.

The British Prime Minister noted that it is necessary to exert “all kinds of pressure” on Russia so that it agrees to peace.

“This concerns both Europe and Ukraine. Putin’s ambitions are not limited to Ukraine, which the neighboring countries are well aware of,” he added.

Last weekend, Driscoll, as well as US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Trump’s special representative Steve Witkoff and son-in-law of the US president, Jared Kushner, participated in talks in Geneva with the Ukrainian delegation. Representatives of Kyiv’s European allies also came to Switzerland for discussions.

In Geneva, the United States and Ukraine tried to converge on the plan to end the war proposed by the Trump administration. In a statement by the White House and the Office of the President of Ukraine following the meeting, it was said that the parties have prepared an updated and refined concept that fully supports Ukraine’s sovereignty and will help ensure a just peace.

Kyiv’s allies considered the initial draft of the proposals to be a “Kremlin’s wish list.” Fears were expressed that the Trump administration could push Ukraine to sign a peace agreement that is heavily oriented toward Moscow. Reuters writes that the 28-point peace plan caught some officials in the government of the United States by surprise.

At the negotiations on November 23, according to the media, the American and Ukrainian delegations discussed a possible visit of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi to the United States this week. But there are still no clear plans for the trip. The White House noted that it is not scheduled for this week.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that the meeting with the Ukrainian delegation in Geneva was “the most productive ever” of Trump’s attempts to end the war.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi noted on the evening of November 24 that as a result of the negotiations, the initial US proposals were changed taking into account the Ukrainian position. He confirmed media reports that there are no longer 28 points in the peace plan – their number has decreased.
