In a career that spanned more than 60 years, Marisa Paredes played more than 75 roles.

The actress debuted on the big screen at the age of 14. And with Pedro Almodovar, she began collaborating in 1983 with the film Dark Habits. She starred in four more of his landmark films: High Heels (1991), The flower of my secret (1995), All about my mother (1999) and The Skin I Live In (2011).

The audience also knows Marisa Paredes well from Roberto Benigni’s famous comedy drama Life is Beautiful (1997), which won three Oscars, and Guillermo del Toro’s horror film The Devil’s Backbone.

She also starred in the films of such Spanish directors as Amos Gitai, Daniel Schmid, Philip Liore, Raul Ruiz, Alain Tanner, Maria Sole Tognazzi, Christina Comencini, Manuel de Oliveira.

In 2000-2003, Paredes was the president of the Spanish Film Academy, and in 2018 she was awarded the honorary Goya Award.
