Stalker 2 game helped rescuers tell about the danger of mines

Yevgeny Demkivsky Author of news Mezha.media and GIK. I write about technologies, cinema and games. Perhaps about games with a little more passion.

The SES of Ukraine and the GSC Game World Studio launched a joint project to promote the mine safety rules using the Stalker 2: Heart of Cornobyl.

In the video created on the basis of the game, the main character of the Scythian demonstrates basic rules:

  • Not to approach suspicious items
  • Do not touch them
  • Turn back the same way
  • Call 101

According to the SES, about 23% of Ukraine’s territory remain dangerous due to mines and ammunition, and the demining will last for decades. Despite the awareness of risks, more than half of the teenagers behave inadvertently, especially the boys of the age of 14-17, who tend to underestimate the danger.

In order to convey an important message in a clear form, the SES, together with GSC Game World, integrated a mine threat subject to a virtual world familiar to players. According to the developers, the project should help save life, replacing dry lectures with emotional immersion.
