Johnson’s decision was a development of the initiative of another Republican, Congresswoman Nancy Mays. Last week, she introduced a resolution to ban transgender women from the Capitol’s women’s restrooms. The resolution didn’t specifically mention Sarah McBride by name, but Mays said Tuesday that “this is 100 percent about McBride” and that she doesn’t think the future congresswoman “has a voice at all.”
