Spain Commits €1 Billion in Military Aid to Ukraine Amid Ongoing Conflict

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during an official visit to Spain’s government residence, Palacio de la Moncloa, on March 18, 2026. This meeting comes as Ukraine marks the 1,485th day of resistance against Russia’s full-scale invasion.

Key developments include:

  • Spain is set to provide €1 billion in military assistance to Ukraine this year.
  • A Russian drone has attacked the Security Service of Ukraine’s headquarters in the Lviv region, resulting in damage.

In a separate incident, a residential building in one area of Odesa sustained damage due to a massive Russian attack. Additionally, a non-residential structure in another part of the city was also affected, according to Serhiy Lysak, head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration.

Emergency services are currently on-site to address the aftermath of the attacks, and details regarding potential casualties are being confirmed.

Oleh Kiper, the head of the Odesa Regional State Administration, reported that air defense systems are operational in the region. The Ukrainian Air Force had previously warned of groups of Russian drones in the area, and ongoing combat operations are being conducted.

Spain has pledged significant military support to Ukraine as the conflict continues, while Odesa faces new attacks from Russian forces, causing damage to civilian infrastructure. Emergency services are responding to the latest incidents amid ongoing military operations in the region.
