The Ministry of Transport has reported the creation of a special committee, which will be engaged in watching safety measures and improving the country.
Recent events have questioned the effectiveness of existing control measures. At the end of December, the most tragic plane crash occurred in recent years – Jeju Air aircraft crashed at Muan Airport, which led to the death of 179 people. Preliminary analysis indicates a possible contact with birds as one of the factors of catastrophe.
The second incident happened last week: at the International Airport of Pusana during the preparation for departure, Air Busan Lowcoster Air. Thanks to the surgical reaction of the crew, all passengers were evacuated in time, avoiding the victims.
The new committee, which will work within 10 weeks, will include experts from the private sector. They will analyze aircraft maintenance, budget airline operating standards and airport infrastructure. One of the priority measures will be the modernization of structures similar to the one in which the plane in Muan was crashed in seven airports of the country.
Investigation of the causes of both accidents is ongoing, and the government is determined to restore confidence in the national aviation security system.
