On February 17, the Security Service of Ukraine confirmed that together with the forces of special operations of the Armed Forces carried out an air attack of two enterprises in the Krasnodar region of the Russian Federation – the Ilsky oil refinery and the Kropotkinskaya oil reflecting station.

“At least 20 explosions were heard in the Ilsky Refinery area. The factory began a fire, which was confirmed by even local authorities. This plant includes six technological facilities for oil processing with a total capacity of 6.6 million tons per year. In February 2024, the SBU drones had already struck this plant. At that time, the installation of primary oil processing at the cost of $ 50 million was damaged, ”the message stated.

Kropotkinskaya oil pumping station was also affected, added to the special service.

“It is the largest oil pumping station of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium in Oosia. As a result of the attack, the NPS stopped, it was decommissioned. Now the pumping of oil is bypassing this station, ”the message reads.

“Petroleum plants and oil pumping stations are quite legitimate. Not only do they work for Russia’s defense, they provide fuel enemy troops, but are important for the Russian economy that finances the war through oil. Therefore, the visits of the drones will continue to these objects, ” – said the informed source in the SBU.

Since the beginning of 2024, Russian refineries have regularly affected Ukrainian drones. In some plants, the primary oil processing installations that demanded repair were obtained. However, in April last year, Russia was able to partially restore the capacity of key oil refineries.

According to the estimates of the BBC, published in August 2024, since the beginning of that year, the Armed Forces have at least 64 times attacked by refinery and oil infrastructure in Russia.
