As Shevtsov clarified to “Ukrainian Pravda”, the fighters held a position in the Kursk direction near the village of Varachyne of the Yunakiv community. During this time, they repelled six enemy assaults and held their territory.
In December, Korey received a bullet wound, but decided to remain in the position.
Rotation in this direction is quite difficult. Each position change there is a separate, carefully thought-out operation. Exit is no less dangerous than retention. To replace the fighters, you have to go out gradually, under cover and with risk at every step. That is why their exit from the positions stretched for almost two weeks, the DPSU notes.
The escape was also helped by the snowy weather, in which the enemy anti-aircraft defense forces cannot see the movement of Ukrainian fighters. Maskhalats shot down Pastor and Korey with drones.
According to Shevtsov, in general, border guards use drones to ensure such positions “at zero”, in particular, to drop BC, water and provisions.
There are still a few people left in this direction, who hold certain areas for several months at a time. The spokesman of the brigade praised their heroism, noting that in this direction the fighters prevent the breakthrough of the enemy, who constantly tries to conduct assault actions.
