Investigators will look into the actions of the Ministry of Defense and government officials who allowed the shipment of equipment worth hundreds of millions of euros during the last election period.
Minister of Internal Affairs Matus Šutaj Eštok said that the group will study legal statements and individuals, as well as the report of the Supreme Control Chamber, which reveals the details of this agreement. The goal is to fully investigate the incident and establish the truth.
In this regard, Šutaj Eštok called the transfer of equipment “arbitrary”, which led not only to the weakening of Slovakia’s defense capabilities, but also caused financial consequences. He emphasized that this situation requires the strengthening of public finances, as the government has lost significant resources due to the uncontrolled transfer of equipment.
The decision to transfer equipment was made during the tenure of former Defense Minister Yaroslav Nagy, when Slovakia transferred a significant amount of military equipment to Ukraine, including the S-300 air defense system, combat vehicles, helicopters and other resources.
