““Peace in Ukraine cannot be concluded without Ukraine, security in Europe cannot be achieved without Europe.””, – WRITE: www.pravda.com.ua
From the editor: from February 14 to February 16, the Munich Security Conference (IBC) was held in Germany, where 60 leaders of states and governments came.
My six conclusions after Munich
She was a denominator of post -war reality. Each Munich Security Forum began with a speech of Americans, whatever the camp is in power, about a joint vision of international challenges. This unity of the US and Europe was also a key matrix of international relations in the world. Is no longer. Whether it will be a feature of the current US President, or the speech of the US Vice President initiated a new coordinate system-history will show.
Munich in 2025 reported that an automatic mechanism that opened a security umbrella in the form of NATO’s 5 article 5 can eat. There has been a reality that the European Union should take care of its own safety seriously. As a result, we have an emergency summit of European leaders against Ukraine, who collects Macron in Paris.

Saturday (February 15 – Ed.) The response of a special representative of the United States to Ukraine General Kellog in Munich to the question whether the EU would participate in the negotiations – shocked Europeans, both with its categoricality (without diplomatic reversals) and content: no, but the United States will take into account the position of Europeans.
In the end, such a directness from the Americans and indignation from Europeans gave positive dynamics the next day. Europeans hold the summit; consider the idea of a special settler from the EU in negotiations; The statements of several countries about the readiness to place European troops in Ukraine have intensified. The Americans, in turn, sent the questionnaire as to the form of readiness of Europeans to be part of peace talks.
It seems that they are currently co -existing at 4 different speeds.
Trump-Time. Which, according to many interlocutors, means that the US President wants to meet Putin by the end of Ramadan and conclude a peaceful peace agreement as soon as possible.
Kelloga-Time. Who publicly gave 180 days of communication with all the parties.
EU-Time. It seemed that Europe has just turned the hourglass that started a new countdown.
And after all, the time that Ukraine lives. This is the time we give us armed forces.
Many people expected Munich would give clarity at least the outlines of the end of the war. This did not happen.
The US Vice President did not even touch the issue of war in Ukraine during a key public speaking (many people consider it a positive, given the context of his speech). General Kellogg has acted a lot, but did not voice any specific framework, prerequisites or modalities that should become part of peace.
As for the EU role, we will hear more in the coming days.
The only framework of the possible end of the war was announced by the President of Ukraine. It should be a fair peace that will be stable, which will be provided with reliable security guarantees. There can be no peaceful plan designed without Ukraine. And also part of these negotiations should be Europe.
Annual Conference in Munich always gives birth to a phrase/title that very well diagnoses the state of the world.
On the eve of the war, this phrase was “Post-West, Post-Truth, Post-Order”.
In 2023, this phrase of international partners was “We Will Stand with Ukraine as Long as It Takes”. This thesis had problems from the beginning. She blurred the responsibility and leadership of the event. Standing with Ukraine is important, but not enough for the fair end of the war.
I think that the key slogan of Munich 2025 was Zelensky that peace in Ukraine cannot be concluded without Ukraine, security in Europe cannot be achieved without Europe. In some sense, this became the collective response of Europe to the vision of the main challenges facing the world, as opposed to the vice voiced by Vice President Vance.
In the end, if the Euro -Atlantic unity has a chance to revive in the medium term, then the minimum prerequisite should be that this thesis is survived by a testing in 2025.
