Detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine have been conducting a pre-trial investigation since July 2024 into the possible illegal enrichment of the first deputy director of the State Bureau of Investigation, Oleksandr Udovichenko, a figure in the Hromadske journalistic investigation, in which it is said that he lives in an undeclared luxury apartment in Kyiv.

Verbatim from the document: “According to the facts specified in the request, detectives of the National Bureau are conducting a pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings on the grounds of possible illegal enrichment. As of the time of receipt of the request, no person has been informed of the suspicion within the framework of the mentioned criminal proceedings.”
Details: No information about the progress of the pre-trial investigation was reported to NABU, as it is prohibited by law.
Prehistory:
- In June 2024, Nromadske journalists found out that the first deputy head of the DBR, Oleksandr Udovichenko, lives in an apartment worth $900,000 in the elite residential complex of Kyiv Regent Hill, but there is no mention of this property in his declaration.
- In July, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau initiated criminal proceedings against the first deputy director of the State Bureau of Investigation.
- In response to the request of “Ukrainian Pravda”, the SBI reported that it was conducting an official investigation into Udovychenka. The department did not provide any details regarding the progress of the official investigation.
