The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary, Peter Szijarto, suggested that the US “peace plan” would have already led to the restoration of peace in Ukraine, if it had not been “sabotaged” by European leaders.

Details: Asked to comment on Hungary’s position on the US “peace proposals”, Szijjártó repeated his criticism of his EU colleagues, whom he urged to support the plan.

“We believe that this peace plan is a huge opportunity to achieve peace. Both Ukrainians and we, Europeans, have lost too much because of this war and do not want to pay an even higher price for a war in which we bear no responsibility,” said the head of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry.

“Therefore, we keep our fingers crossed for President Trump and ask the responsible people in Brussels and Western European leaders not to sabotage the negotiations. If they had not sabotaged President Trump’s plans until now, President Trump’s plan would have been successful,” he added.

It will be recalled that the USA and Ukraine at the negotiations in Geneva developed a new peace agreement on 19 points, but the most politically sensitive issues were left to the discretion of the presidents of both countries.

White House spokeswoman Caroline Levitt said the U.S. had made “significant progress” toward a peace deal, but there were some “tickling but not overwhelming details.”
