“ The percentage of Ukrainians who believe that in 10 years their country will be prosperous and a member of the European Union has increased from 43% to 56%. Source: survey results of the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology Details: Sociologists draw attention to the fact that from October 2022 to May 2025 there was a steady trend towards a decrease in optimism in Ukrainian society, and in May the predominance of pessimistic sentiments was recorded for the first time. Thus, in May 2025, 47% believed that in 10 years Ukraine will be a country with a ruined economy and a large outflow of population – against 43% who believed that in 10 years Ukraine will be a prosperous member of the EU. However, as of the beginning of October, there is a recovery of optimistic sentiments and currently 56% are optimistic about the country’s future. On the other hand, from 47% to 31%, those who believe that in 10 years Ukraine will be a ruined country with a significant population outflow have decreased. Photo: screenshot from the KMIS website. There is also a trend that younger Ukrainians are more pessimistic. Thus, among respondents aged 18-29, 49% believe that Ukraine will be a prosperous country in 10 years, while 39%, on the contrary, see it as destroyed. That is, the balance of optimistic-pessimistic estimates is +10% (at the level of Ukraine as a whole, the indicator is +25%). Among the 30-59-year-olds, the balance of grades is +23%, and among the 60+ year-olds – +39%. The survey was conducted from September 19 to October 5 by telephone interviews based on a random sample of mobile phone numbers. 1,008 respondents aged 18 and over were interviewed in all government-controlled regions of Ukraine. The statistical error of such a sample does not exceed 4.1%, but under the conditions of war, a certain systematic deviation is added to it.”, — write: www.pravda.com.ua
