Details: The controversy was provoked by Viktor Orbán’s statement that in the next 100 years, “there will be no such parliament in Hungary that would vote for Ukraine’s accession to the EU.”

In response to these words of the Hungarian Prime Minister, Sibiga sharply replied that his plans are doomed to failure, since “Orban’s master” in Moscow will not last another 100 years.
The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Hungary, Peter Szijarto, reacted to this statement of Sibiga on the X social network. He accused the Ukrainian minister of interfering in the Hungarian elections.
“We know you want a government that would say yes to Brussels and be ready to drag Hungary into your war. But we won’t allow that! The sovereign Hungarian government will continue to protect the country and its people from your war! Hungary first!” – wrote Sijarto.
Sibiga, for his part, published a lengthy response on Saturday with harsh criticism of Viktor Orbán and called on Szijjarto to “call a spade a spade.”
“When Viktor Orbán says that he will not allow Ukraine to join the EU for the next 100 years, he is not really addressing the Ukrainian state. First of all, he is saying this to the ethnic Hungarians in Transcarpathia. It sounds like a Freudian slip, referring to the peace treaty signed more than 100 years ago, which was tragic for the Hungarians. This is the height of your cynicism,” Sibiga wrote.
He noted that Orbán and his team do not care about the welfare and safety of Hungarians living in Ukraine, instead he just wants to “hold them hostage to his geopolitical adventures and continue to launder money through various foreign schemes and funds – to build another football stadium or a new private zoo with zebras.”
It should be noted that this is a reference to the corruption scandal in Hungary surrounding Orban’s dacha, where, as journalists found out, there is a private zoo with exotic animals, in particular zebras.
Sybiga emphasized that the European Union is a zone of peace, and Ukraine’s accession to the EU will bring peace closer and guarantee security and prosperity for the whole of Europe and for the entire Hungarian people.
“But this is not what Putin wants. He wants the war to continue. By blocking Ukraine’s membership in the EU, Orban is fulfilling Putin’s wishes. At the same time, Orban is blocking the restoration of peace in Europe and turning Hungary into an accomplice of the Kremlin regime. Today, Orban is not even acting like Miklos Horti, but like Hitler’s henchman Ferenc Salashi. This is a lesson of the Second World War,” Sibiga wrote.
He added that “Hungary and the Hungarian people do not deserve this,” because “the Hungarian people are the people of dignity and freedom, the people of Ferenc Rákócsi II, Sándor Petefi and Imre Nagy, not Orbán.”
