Shot at the godfather: the Finnish court declared a sentence with a talented biathlete

Biathlon World Champion Among the Juniors ArtTu Heikkinen It is found guilty of a careless task of injuries and violations of hunting rules. The incident occurred in September 2024 while hunting in the Hirinsalma region.

The 21-year-old athlete accidentally fired at his godfather-he lost his sight into one eye. Heikkine has publicly stated that the incident happened by accident.

The court imposed 70 daily penalties – the amount is 420 euros. In addition, the athlete must pay the victim 6 800 euros of compensation and reimburse litigation. The pistol removed during the investigation will return the heikine.

The biathlete stressed that in a loyal mode complies with safety rules and hopes that this case will not affect his relationship with sponsors and sports partners.

The decision is not yet final, an appeal is expected. The Finnish Biathlon Federation has now allowed the athlete to temporarily continue training and performances for the national team.

In February 2022, ArtTu became a world champion among juniors under 19 years in a classic individual race at the Solger Hollow (USA). In the same year and in 2023, he won bronze medals in the persecution race in the same age category.

In the 2024-25 season he was part of the Finland National Team, in particular, he competed at the adult World Championships in Lenzergide (Switzerland), where Running in the male relay four, along with Ollie Khiidensalo, terro, Sappyal and Jimi Clemertette.
