On January 27, at 09:47, the “102” line received a message from the forester about the “Niva” car, which stopped at the entrance to the village of Nekhvoroshch, Cherkasy district. A policeman with a gunshot wound to the leg was in the cabin.
As it turned out, a law enforcement officer was wounded during a shootout in the village of Nekhvoroshch. According to preliminary data, employees of the Department of Criminal Investigation together with the investigators of the police of the Cherkasy region went on the trail of a suspect in an attempt to kill a citizen. During the detention, he opened fire in the direction of law enforcement officers. Four policemen died at the scene of the shooting. The injured policeman was taken to the hospital.
During the shootout, the attacker was eliminated by another group of police officers. Other circumstances of the event are being established, the Bureau says.
According to the UP source, the liquidated shooter was a demobilized ex-serviceman.
Prehistory:
- On January 27, the head of the National Police, Ivan Vyhivskyi, reported that in the Cherkasy region, during a special operation to detain a man who was wanted on suspicion of murder, he opened fire on law enforcement officers. As a result, four policemen died: 4 policemen – Serhii Safronov, Oleksandr Florinskyi, Denys Polovynka and Volodymyr Boyko. The shooter was eliminated by special forces.
- At the same time, it turned out later that the man was suspected of attempted murder, not murder. According to “Ukrinform”, it was about attempts on a deputy of the city council.
- The interlocutor of the agency claimed that in Korsun-Shevchenkivskyi there is a deputy of the city council and the head of a public organization, who allegedly had already twice been subjected to “attempts-warnings”. According to him, the deputy turned to the police, the law enforcement officers identified those involved, after which they issued an order the day before, and the next day an operative-investigative group went to detain the suspect.
- At a briefing on January 27, the head of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Cherkasy region, police colonel Oleg Gudyma, said that the shooter is a local resident, a 59-year-old ex-serviceman.
- Cherkastian Yaroslav Nyshchyk said on Facebook that the shooter was his brother, former military man Serhiy Rusinov. According to Nyshchyk, Rusinov had a conflict with Vitaly Storozhuk, a deputy of the Korsun-Shevchenkiv city council.
- On January 28, Storozhuk announced the “spread of false information and speculation” surrounding the death of Rusinov.
