The minister wrote about it on September 11 in a telegram, noting that in London in the fields of the International Defense Security and Equipment International Exhibition and Conference (DSEI), the International Exhibition of the Defense Security and Equipment International Exhibration and Conference (DSEI) had a meeting with German Rheinmetall AG Papper.
“We have effective cooperation in a number of areas, such as ammunition, armored vehicles and air defense decisions. Since the last conversation, we have finalized procedures for launching new joint production … Other important projects, including the development of capacity for armored vehicles, have also been discussed. The RheinMetall line has a number of new samples that can strengthen the defense forces of Ukraine, ”Shmigal said.
In addition, according to the official, the meeting discussed the development of the air defense direction, “in particular how to jointly develop and improve decisions that will help us to more effectively fight the drowns of the enemy.”

At the end of September 2023, it became known that the Federal Antimonopoly Office of Germany allowed the RheinMetall armed concern to create a joint venture with JSC “Ukrainian Defense Industry” (former “Ukroboronprom”), which will be engaged in maintenance and production of military equipment in Ukraine.
In October 2023, the then Defense Minister of Rustem Umerov reported on the plans of Ukraine and Germany to expand defense and industrial cooperation.
In February 2024, Rheinmetall stated that she plans to open a new ammunition plant in Ukraine.
