In Odesa, a young man who killed a woman who took care of him as a son was sentenced to 10 years in prison

Law enforcement officers note that the incident happened back in May 2023 in a private household on the territory of the Nerubai community.
“A 65-year-old woman looked after the house of her friends while they were not at home. She was visited by a 24-year-old man, whom she looked after as if she were her own son. The young man asked to borrow money, but was refused, which became the reason for a quarrel. He began to strangle the woman, and when she lost consciousness, he beat her with various household items. After realizing that the victim died, the perpetrator hid the body under the blanket and ran away.” – the message says.
The police determined that the victim died from multiple head, neck and torso injuries, including skull and jaw fractures, brain, chest and abdominal injuries, as well as penetrating wounds that resulted in massive blood loss.
According to the conclusion of the forensic psychiatric examination, at the time of the crime, the man was fully aware of his actions and could control them.
The criminal was charged with premeditated murder under Part 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which carries a maximum penalty of up to 15 years in prison. The man was kept in custody until the court verdict.
The law enforcement officers emphasized that the young man had previously been convicted three times for theft, for the last of which he was sentenced to 5 years and 6 months of imprisonment, when the pre-trial investigation of the murder was already ongoing. And for the previous ones, he spent five years in prison.
