In the Hunter Valley in South Wales, a woman was rescued from a stone trap into which she had fallen. She spent seven hours upside down waiting for help.
20-year-old Matilda Hemmel fell into a three-meter gap between boulders when she was trying to get her phone. It happened in New South Wales in Great Britain during a walk in the Hunter Valley, The Guardian reports.
At first, the woman’s friends tried to save her on their own for an hour, and then they called the local rescue team for help. In order to get closer to the woman, the rescuers first had to pull away several large boulders, having received “free access to both legs.”
A special winch was used to move the boulder weighing 500 kg. And for “ensuring stability” during the rescue, they made a wooden frame.
Then, for an hour, the woman had to drag her feet forward through a complex turn similar to the letter S.
“In 10 years of working as a paramedic in the rescue team, I have never met with such a case. It was challenging, but incredibly rewarding. Everyone worked very well and achieved the result,” shared lifeguard Peter Watts.
The rescued woman suffered minor scratches and bruises. However, it was not possible to get the phone.
