Shabunin stated that the DBR lied to the return of his seized gadgets

Vitaly Shabunin, Chairman of the Board of Corruption Center, said the DBR “deceived journalists again,” informed that he was returned to him during a search of the phone and a laptop.

Details: According to him, the DBR returned only the gadgets of his relatives, not personal devices. Shabunin believes that the DBR release was made public intentionally during procedural actions when he could not promptly refute the information.

Details: “Ukrainian Truth” addressed the DBR and received an answer that the bureau was notified on August 14 that Shabunin had returned electronic gadgets “seized during a search at his place of residence.”

Thus, they say that “all gadgets” were not discussed, investigative actions in the case of the head of the CPC were carried out in several places.

That preceded:

• On August 14, the DBR employees completed the investigation of criminal proceedings against the Chairman of the Board of the Center for Combating Corruption Vitaliy Shabunin, after familiarization with the case file, the indictment will be transferred to court.
• The DBR also stated that on August 14, electronic gadgets were returned to the suspect during a search at his place of residence. The return decision was made after all the necessary procedural actions.
• The investigation throws Shabunin that, having mobilized in 2022, he said, for a long time, he did not appear to the place of service and under the guise of “business trips” was in civilian institutions that were not on defense forces. He is also charged with receiving monthly cash, despite the absence in the service than, according to the investigation, more than 224 thousand UAH was caused to the state.
• In addition, it was stated that during the investigation the circumstances of the use of a vehicle intended for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were investigated, as a result of which the reasons for notifying the suspicion were not found.
• The serviceman is charged with Part 4 of Art. 409 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – evasion of military service in the conditions of martial law, Part 2 of Art. 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – fraud.

Recall:

• On July 11, the DBR announced Shabunin of suspicion of evasion of military service and fraud.
• Shabunin called President Vladimir Zelensky after the searches and stated that he was taking “confident steps towards corruption authoritarianism.”
• On July 15, the Pechersk Court of Kiev elected Shabunin a preventive measure in the form of a personal obligation by August 20.
• More than half a hundred NGOs responded to the case against the chairman of the Center for Combating Corruption and called on Zelensky, as well as OGP leaders Ruslan Kravchenko and DBR Alexei Sukhachev to stop using a system of justice for political massacres.
