“As a result of the attack, the tanker suffered critical damage, according to preliminary information, the vessel was disabled. The approximate cost of such a tanker is $30 million, and for one voyage it transported approximately $60 million worth of oil products,” the source said, adding that the EU, Great Britain, Canada, Australia and Switzerland had previously imposed sanctions against the Dashan vessel.
On November 29, as reported by the source, SBU Sea Baby drones hit two sanctioned oil tankers KAIRO and VIRAT belonging to the “shadow fleet” of the Russian Federation in the Black Sea.
At the time, Turkish authorities reported fires on two oil tankers in the Black Sea, possibly due to “external influences”. Both vessels are under Western sanctions as part of Russia’s “shadow fleet”.
There are currently no official comments from the Russian side.
