Klymenko’s direct speech: “According to our data, after the start of the full-scale invasion in 2022, deputies did not receive payments “in envelopes” for some time. When we learned that they had resumed, we continued to work in this direction.”

Details: According to him, when payments “in envelopes” resumed, deputies received 1-2 thousand dollars a month for voting in parliament on certain draft laws.
“Then the payments increased to $5,000. Fines could also be imposed. Then the “salary” was reduced to $3,000,” the head of the SAPS noted.
At the same time, Klymenko reminded that the first criminal proceedings against a people’s deputy were registered by the former Prosecutor General Iryna Venediktova at the end of her term in office based on statements received at the end of 2021. “This was the first episode that was investigated,” he said.
He added that before the full-scale invasion, there were periods when payments “in envelopes” reached 20,000 dollars a month.
In total, Klymenko noted, 41 deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of the 9th convocation received suspicion from the SAP. And in the ten years since the anti-corruption bodies began their work, 79 former and current people’s deputies have received suspicions.

On December 29, SAP prosecutors handed over suspicion to five People’s Deputies of Ukraine, who ensured receiving bribes for “necessary” voting in the Verkhovna Rada. The sums of bribes were 2-20 thousand dollars.
