Russian troops attacked civilian cars in Sumy Oblast with a drone, one person died – the prosecutor’s office

In Sumy Oblast, as a result of a drone strike on a civilian car on January 13, one person died and another was injured, the regional prosecutor’s office reported.

“According to the investigation, on January 13, 2025, around 4:00 p.m., using methods of warfare prohibited by international law, the enemy drone attacked a vehicle with civilians, which was moving on the territory of the Velikopysarov community of the Okhtyr district. As a result of the attack by the occupiers, passengers – a 65-year-old man and his 54-year-old wife – were injured. On the way to the hospital, the woman died from her injuries,” the message reads.

The regional military administration noted that during the day, Russian troops carried out 80 shellings of the border territories and settlements of the Sumy region, 128 explosions were recorded. According to the report, Khotinsk, Yunakivsk, Bilopolsk, Vorozhbyansk, Krasnopilsk, Velikopysarivsk, Putyvlsk, Glukhivsk, Esmansk, Shalyginsk, Seredino-Budsk, Svesk communities came under fire.

The Russian military regularly attacks Ukrainian regions with various types of weapons – attack UAVs, rockets, anti-aircraft missiles, and anti-aircraft missiles.

The leadership of Russia denies that the Russian army during a full-scale war inflicts targeted strikes on the civilian infrastructure of the cities and villages of Ukraine, killing the civilian population and destroying hospitals, schools, kindergartens, energy and water supply facilities.

The Ukrainian authorities and international organizations qualify these strikes as war crimes by the Russian Federation and emphasize that they are purposeful in nature.
