The case against the blogger was suspended. According to current Russian laws, criminal prosecution is terminated if a suspect, defendant or convict signs an army contract.
Yehor Guzenko was detained by the police on October 5 in his hometown of Novopavlovsk in the Stavropol Territory. He was accused of resisting the police and using violence against a police officer. The court sent him to the SIZO for two months.
Since 2015, Guzenko participated in the war in Donbas on the side of the Moscow-backed DPR group. In 2019, he fought in Syria. At the beginning of 2022, Guzenko was under investigation in a hooliganism case – he shot a person in the face with a stun cartridge from a gas pistol. After learning about the beginning of a full-scale invasion of Russian troops into Ukraine, he cut off the electronic tracking bracelet from his leg and drove to the war zone.
In his Telegram channel, Guzenko repeatedly called for the use of nuclear weapons against Ukraine. In addition, he criticized the Russian Ministry of Defense and supported Yevgeny Prigozhin, the founder of the Wagner PMC group.
