On August 1, US President Donald Trump cited data on the losses of Ukraine and Russia in the full-scale war that Moscow has been waging since February 2022. “I was just informed that almost 20,000 Russian soldiers died this month in the senseless war with Ukraine. Since the beginning of the year, Russia has lost 112,500 soldiers… Ukraine, however, has also suffered greatly. It has lost approximately 8,000 soldiers since January 1, 2025, and that number does not include the missing,” Trump wrote on his own TruthSocial network, without specifying who provided him with the data.
